Glad you asked.

To ensure that you don't waste your valuable time, it's crucial to plan ahead and figure out what you hope to achieve at the event and how you'll accomplish it. If you think you need to adapt better technology, write down why exactly and how you think this fits with your current systems.

How to best plan ahead of Accountex London

First, you would want to identify your key objectives - what are some things you would like to learn, identify areas in which you struggle or need further knowledge, development or support, and list a few objectives that you want to have accomplished by the end of the event.

“Determine what you want, what success looks like to you and plan accordingly. If you go into this event with a plan, you will get a return on your investment.”

Wayne Schmidt — Karbon

Here is a 5-step action plan to help you make the most of your time at Accountex London 2023:

  1. Set your goals: Before attending, think about what you want to get out of the event. Are you looking to learn new skills or update your knowledge? Are you interested in exploring new technologies or networking with peers? By identifying your goals, you can plan your time more effectively and ensure that you achieve your objectives.

  2. Plan your time: With over 180 sessions to choose from, it can be overwhelming to decide which ones to attend. Take a systematic approach and create a list of areas in your business that you are looking to improve or change. Then, review the list of exhibitors and speakers to determine which ones are most relevant to your goals. You may also want to revisit your list after the first lap of the exhibitor hall to select the ones you want to physically speak to. Accountex are launching an app that can help you select the ones you want to hear from which should make things easier!

  3. Attend the keynote speeches: There is no point planning it in and skipping half! The keynote speeches are an excellent opportunity to gain valuable insights into the latest developments in finance and accounting so make sure you go to the ones you really want to prioritise and maybe take notes - note what the future trends are and how your practice can bridge the gap.

  4. Explore new products and services: With over 250 exhibitors showcasing the latest products, services and technologies in the industry, take the opportunity to explore new systems and vendors. This is the perfect chance to discover new solutions that can improve your business operations, especially after having a valuable insight into what it is you need the most.

  5. Network with peers: Accountex is a great opportunity to meet with like-minded professionals and build new connections. Take the opportunity to network with other attendees and exhibitors to learn from their experiences and gain new insights.

Finally, don’t forget to not only explore new products and services, but make sure you check the ones you already know or have heard of - they may be launching a new product and offer you a sneak peek or beta version, or they may have upgraded their product or service in a way that now fits well with what you are looking for.

Building better relationships
